Swedish owned ViaCon, MTV Networks Baltic and Sicor Biotech won the prestigious Swedish Business Awards 2008
The Swedish Business Awards 2008 were held in the State Small Theatre of Vilnius in the afternoon on 11th of June. The award for the Fastest growing Swedish company in Lithuania was won by UAB ViaCon Baltic. The winner of the Corporate Social Responsibility award was MTV Networks Baltic for the project Switch, that aims to promote innovative ideas and encourages the fight against global warming. UAB Sicor Biotech won the award Innovator of the year, for the synthesis and application of fligrastim – a cancer treatment substance – into commercial activity, accepted and approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMEA).
“In order to be competitive, no company can today ignore either growth, innovation or Corporate Social Responsibility” – the Swedish Minister for Foreign trade, Dr. Eva Björling, said in her key note speech. The Minister also handed out the 3 Swedish Business Awards.
The event was hosted by the Ambassador of Sweden to Lithuania, Mrs. Malin Kärre and the Executive Officer of the Swedish Trade Council in Lithuania, Mr. Mantas Zalatorius. It was attended by more than 200 guests – representatives of Swedish companies and organizations, managers of Swedish owned companies in Lithuania as well as corporate leaders from Lithuania and Sweden.
Swedish-Lithuanianbusiness has been prominent in Lithuania in a very consistent and sustainable way. Swedish investments have always put Sweden among the top three sources of FDI. There are more than 100 active Swedish capital companies in Lithuania. With these awards, the Embassy of Sweden in Lithuania and the Swedish Trade Council highlight best practices and encourage foreign investors to establish and develop their business in Lithuania.
